Industrial Photography Tips

The art of industrial photography can be inspiring. Photos may revolve around the workers, the jobs they are doing, or it can be all about the buildings. 1. Weather

When photographing steel, overcast days seem to work best. This will ensure you capture the true color of the steel rather than the glare from the sun. Sometimes weather can add an interesting aspect to the photograph. For example, imagine if you were to capture a bolt of lightning in the background, just as you snapped the shot. That would make for an even more artistic shot!

2. Tripods

An essential tool for the photographer is the tripod. Using the tripod will help ensure you are able to capture the straight lines.

3. Contrast

Use of the high contrast setting on the camera leads to better than normal photos. Contrast can be used to bring out the texture and give depth. At times it will show dramatic shadows which will of course add deeper texture.

4. Tones

Using cooler tones are better for taking pictures of metal then warm tones are. Tones that contrast are also appealing, such as varying shades of grays and blacks. This can be done even in the cheapest digital camera.

5. Compositions

Traditional and bold compositions work best for this kind of photography. You want to capture the power behind the symmetrical compositions.
